Account and Data Deletion Request

1. Introduction

This policy explains how you can delete your WishMate account and the personal data we collect through the WishMate mobile application (iOS and Android) and website (wishmate.net). Under your "right to erasure" as defined by GDPR and KVKK, you can delete your account and data at any time.

2. Deleting Your Account In-App

You can delete your account directly from the WishMate mobile application:

  • 1. Open the WishMate app and sign in to your account
  • 2. Go to the Settings screen
  • 3. Tap the "Delete Account" option
  • 4. Confirm your deletion request on the confirmation screen

After confirmation, your account and all related data will be deleted. This action cannot be undone.

3. Deletion Request by Email

If you cannot access the app or prefer to submit your deletion request via email:

  • Email address: [email protected]
  • Subject: Use "Data Deletion Request"
  • Include the email address registered to your account in the message body
  • Additional information may be requested for identity verification (to prevent unauthorized deletion)

Once your request is verified, it will be processed within a maximum of 30 days and you will receive a confirmation email.

4. Partial Data Deletion

Instead of deleting your entire account, you may want to delete only specific data. You can perform the following actions directly in the app:

  • Delete a wishlist — delete the list from the list screen
  • Delete a single wish item — long-press the item and use the delete option
  • Delete your profile photo — Profile > Remove Photo
  • Edit profile information such as name and birthday — Profile > Edit

5. Data That Will Be Deleted

When your account deletion request is processed, the following data is deleted from our servers and databases:

  • Account information (name, email, birthday, profile photo)
  • All wishlists you created and their contents
  • All images you uploaded (product photos, profile photo)
  • Friend/share relationships and invitations
  • Push notification tokens and device identifiers
  • Your app preferences (language, theme, notification settings)

6. Data That Will Be Retained

Due to legal obligations and legitimate interests, the following data may be retained for a certain period:

  • Records required to be kept by law (tax, consumer law, etc. — for the periods specified in the relevant legal provisions)
  • Security and fraud prevention records (limited period, maximum 12 months)
  • Anonymized analytics data — no longer linked to you and cannot identify you

This data is automatically deleted when legal retention periods expire or the need ends.

7. Deletion Timeline

The processing of your deletion request consists of the following stages:

  • Immediately: Your account is deactivated and no one can access your data
  • Within 30 days: Data is completely deleted from active systems
  • Up to 90 days: Also deleted from regular backups (once backup rotation is complete)

8. Deletion from Third-Party Services

When your account is deleted, your data at the following service providers is also deleted or anonymized:

  • Firebase/Google Cloud (authentication, database, file storage)
  • Brevo (newsletter subscription — you can also use the "Unsubscribe" link in any newsletter email to unsubscribe separately)
  • Google Analytics (usage statistics — user identifier is anonymized)

9. Child Accounts

If you are requesting the deletion of an account belonging to a child under the age of 13, you can contact [email protected] stating that you are a parent or legal guardian. Such requests are processed as a priority and without additional identity verification.

10. Consequences of Deletion

Account deletion has the following consequences:

  • You cannot sign in to the app or website with your account again
  • Your access to lists shared with you and shares coming to your lists will end
  • The action is irreversible — you will need to create a new account if you want to use WishMate again
